After a great time in Vancouver, we loaded up the van, this time with Craig and Katie’s stuff as well. An eight hour drive is a lot nicer with good company, and we had a great trip, even when it turned into a ten hour drive. Thanks to an accident 16km from our destination, we got to hang out together for an extra two hours! Fun times on winter roads in the mountains.
Once we did arrive, we were greeted with dinner and fabulous hospitality at my Aunt and Uncle’s place. Days were spent skiing at Kicking Horse mountain, towing Belle around in her sled (thanks, Great Grandpa Bob!), and fixing flat tires, while the nights were spent enjoying great food and even better company. My cousin joined us on the hill Saturday and then cooked us a fancy French meal afterwards, which was absolutely delicious.
Finally, my aunt and uncle saved us yet again, by giving us a lift to Calgary after our car rental plan fell through! We added this to the tally of them saving us when our car broke down the last time we visited a few years earlier and lending us their van to get up and down the mountain this time after the front tire on Michelle’s parents’ van blew. We’re forever in your debt, Arlts!
