So Michelle went to the Shoppers Drug Mart just down the street to get some more diapers a few days ago. This was early in our first week with Belle and sleep was at a premium in those days. Dazed and drifting, she stumbled through the aisles, looking for the diapers. Despite her mental fog, she did notice that a man in a yellow jacket seemed to be tracking her progress through the store. Realizing that she had probably been pegged as suspiciously “out of it” by this alert security guard, she began to wonder if she should say something. While pondering, she reached the diapers and grabbed a package, only to look up and see that the security guard had abruptly lost interest as soon as he’d seen what she was buying; apparently he’d seen her kind before. So a note for those who work with the public: that semi-conscious, suspicious character you’re following through your store may just be a relatively harmless, and hapless, new parent.
